Chaos Drawing©   The Fullness One   Reinventing the Wheel

The Fullness One is a series of 26 images (two sets of 13), celebrating and invoking the Feminine Divine. The first 13 images are Mother-Fullness; the second 13 are Daughter-Fullness.

Although this series originated as an independent visual meditation over several days of painting, it eventually came to be merged with a poem-meditation that I had written and forgotten several years before beginning the paintings. The poem resurfaced when I was 3/4 of the way through the first 13 paintings and was expanded to accompany the entire series.

My mother is the fullness one
and in her eyes I see
reflections of abundant love
showered down all over me.

My daughter is the fullness one
and in her eyes I see
the light of all she has become
and all she is to be.
My mother is the birthing one
and from her womb I see
the pathway that will lead me forth
into my destiny.
My daughter is the new-born one
her life re-members me
the aurora from the East she comes
bright possibility.
My mother is the feeding one
her breasts flow like the sea,
a tide-less flood of ambrosia
that sustains and nurtures me.
My daughter is the hungry one
who drinks in rapturously
turns with delight each time she hears
life's call to taste and see.

The Protecting One

The Daring One
My mother is the protecting one
And to her arms I flee
Surrounded by her boundless love
Where no harm can come to me
My daughter is the daring one
Who dances up freely
To embrace the unknown that enters in
And to hug each mystery
The Healing One The Wounded One

My mother is the healing one
Whose hands reach out sweetly
With gentle strength and healing balm
To restore and comfort me

My daughter is the wounded one
Breaks open and breaks free
And in the breaking finds herself
One within earth’s family
The Ordered One The Chaotic One

My mother is the ordered one
Her heart beats steadfastly
It drums the rhythm of life’s dance
Moves me into harmony

My daughter is the chaotic one
Who topples all shape and form
Giving it freedom to be born again:
She is the wisdom of the storm
The Windy One The Still Dark Pool

My mother is the windy one
That animates each day
She whirls my being upside down
And takes my breath away

My daughter is the still dark pool
At the center of each night
Where hidden dreams take form and float
To give my soul clear sight
The Earthly One The Fiery Sun

My mother is the earthly one
The ground beneath my feet
She spreads the path I journey on
Holds me sweet when it’s complete

My daughter is the fiery sun
That makes the darkness flee
She weaves the seasons, times each day
And warms the heart of me
The Wetness One The Greening Branch

My mother is the wetness one
The wellspring greening me
The supple source beneath the ground
Of my fluidity

My daughter is the greening branch
Sprung from the heart of me
She grows and blooms to her own design
My delight: her mystery
The Star-Fire One The Mud-drenched One

My mother is the star-fire one
Her dreams enlighten me
Resurrect me from my mundane rut
Set my spirit flying free

My daughter is the mud-drenched one
Whose earthy energy
Gives tactile, sensual presence
To her potentiality
The Impassioned One The Empowered One

My mother is the impassioned one
She yearns incessantly
To couple all creative force
Into a single energy

My daughter is the empowered one
Stands tall on her won two feet
Self-assured she walks in solitude
Contented and complete
The All-in-Each The Promised One

My mother is the all-in-each
Her breath flows on through me
Connecting me to all that was
That is, and is to be

My daughter is the promised one
Unique from all the rest
A gift in time to the universe
In her, all else is blessed
The Bliss Abyss The Present One

My mother is the bliss abyss
The sacred mystery
Of nothingness and all in all
Before which all logic flees

My daughter is the present one
The tangible mystery
The untouchable reaching out to touch
The un-seeable seen is she
